College Enrollment: Overview of Indicators
About half of California’s high school graduates enroll immediately in some form of public postsecondary education within the state. The majority of college entrants enroll in the community college system, and about 20 percent enroll in a California State University (CSU) or University of California (UC). Better data could provide a more complete picture of immediate college enrollment by tracking students who enroll in private institutions or leave the state; few of these students are captured in current data.
